Esperanza

Esperanza is a very special dog.  I know that all pet owners say that but Espy as we call her is trained as a DIABETIC ALERT SERVICE DOG.  I have unstable insulin dependent diabetes I also have Multiple Sclerosis which causes cognitive problems & I do not always check my sugar as often as I should Espy lets me know if I am in DANGER & "alerts" me to check my sugar. She usually knows before I do when I am too high or too low. I bought the "BEST FRIENDS" (2 1/2's) tags on here & Espy & I each wear them on the back of the tag it says "Together in heart & paw Espy & Mom".  I am starting a company to help other people like myself who are severely disabled.  Finding a name for my company was easy - EsperanzaEnterprises.  Esperanza means "HOPE" in Spanish.  My Esperanza is my hope, my inspiration, my reason for getting out of bed each day. I do not know where I would be without her.  We share a bond I never had with any other dog I ever owned. She is GREAT & adapts to every situation with ease. We are USUALLY together 24/7 though occassionally I have run an errand & left her with my mom who we live with and she gets so upset when I leave her & I feel lost without her. I will only leave her with my mom or her "Aunt Nancy" who she loves to death. At the begining of 2011 I was hospitalized for the MS & I would not let them admit me unless Espy stayed with me. They set up a private room and provided newspapers for her "business" the ONLY COMPLAINT I had ws that she had more visitors than I did. As word spread among the staff that she was there & what a love she was more & more staff flocked to my room. I never received better care in a hospital in my life. More people know Espy's name than know mine & I am (after 5 years) getting used to people calling me "Espy's mom" instead of Peg. Espy entered my life just prior to my suffering a terrible personal loss & I know that I would never have gotten thru it without her. Another site I belonged to asked if dogs have "souls", one only needs to meet Espy to know that they do.
