The best way to choose the correct size range is to measure your pet, or the collar that is being used.

A dressmaker’s tape measure is easiest, but a piece of string can be used and then measured against a ruler, or even estimated against a known length, like a sheet of paper (8.5” x 11”, for US letter-size.)

To measure the dog, use the diagram shown. Measure snug against the fur. Then take this actual-inches-around and add about 5% of that amount to the total.

‘Measure and add 2 inches’ isn’t a very accurate way to estimate extra room. 2 inches is a lot to a small dog, but may not be enough for a big dog.

The best collar for all-the-time use. Measure around the mid-point of the dog’s neck. Adjust the collar so that it does not easily pull over the dog’s head.
